Position Overview:
The Voice Studies Teacher (VST) is responsible for the effective implementation of programmes and activities of the Department of Voice Studies. Responsibilities include teaching individual and/or group lessons, incorporating elements of general musicianship such as ear training, theory, instrumental technique and preparing students for performances, examinations, auditions. Additional responsibilities include directing of the Community Youth Choir and other assigned duties that match the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The VST nurtures talent while maintaining the highest standards of excellence consistent with the mission and goals of the school. This includes ensuring a professional and welcoming environment for students, parents and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or equivalent from an accredited or recognized University or Programme
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience with programmes for at-risk youth would be advantageous.
Ability to incorporate tools within the online environment including free and open source educational platforms.
Energetic person with the ability to adapt in a new cultural environment
Experience: A minimum of two years teaching/practical experience is preferred.
Ability to comfortably teach varied music styles including Folk, Classical, and Jazz and Popular music.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with training and experience.
