Piano

Beginner Course:

Whether you are a child or an adult, you will learn how to play the piano from scratch. Classes are taught on full sized and acoustic pianos where you will be taken down an interesting and exciting journey of understanding music and piano fundamentals, how to read music, ear training (aural), sight reading, scales and chords, posture and the related disciplines to be successful at playing the piano. You will also learn how to identify basic rhythmical patterns, harmonic and melodic progression and the basics of music genres and styles.

Students will be guided on a path with useful exercises and exposure to aid development. In addition, experience peer sharing & learning with other students and departments which is critical to growth, experience and confidence.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to sit ABRSM from grade 1-3.

Intermediate Course:

This course is for students who have met the prerequisites of the beginner course or can show that level of competence. At this level, you will continue to build on fundamental skills and techniques. New concepts about harmonic and melodic progression, rhythmical patterns and music analysis from various eras will be introduced. Understanding music genre and styles will now be much clearer.

Knowledge and the interest of music appreciation should emanate in your playing, intellectual discussion and practice discipline. More intense coaching is encouraged by teachers, parents and peers while consistent practice is compulsory to your success. The end result of hard work is the great feeling of success and achievement.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to sit ABRSM for grade 4-6.

Advanced Course:

In this course you will learn more advanced techniques playing the piano and will be mastering the knowledge and skills you would have acquired thus far. You will now have a wide musical repertoire including concertos and sonatas spanning the eras and musical genres. With your high level of aural skills and ability to site read, creativity and improvisation becomes very fun-filled and satisfying.

Music studies have many benefits that you will achieve. Your good habits and discipline will improve your focus, diligence and perseverance in all aspects of life. Playing piano has been shown to increase spatial-temporal ability, which figures heavily in math, science and engineering. You can choose to further your education and or use your skills and talent to teach others or entertain at your pleasure and leisure.
