Students’ participation in this ensemble will be based on their musical progress, therefore membership is dependent on their success at an audition process or the discretion of the band director or the school’s administration. Students will be guided through the process of effective improvisation and other techniques essential for effective Jazz performance.
This ensemble is “semi-professional”, therefore professional performance opportunities are likely to occur with this ensemble. This ensemble is also seen as the final step offered by the department in the students’ preparation for professional performance or the study of music at the tertiary level.
